Our Assessment: The S&W model 60 is a popular little revolver for backup and ankle carry and was the first stainless revolver Smith & Wesson ever put into production. This revolver was manufactured in so many variations that the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson’s description is on 4 pages. Variations from 3″ to magnum barrels, target sights, +p, stainless, lady smith…the list goes on. There were a lot of special orders for police departments, with special serial numbers as well. This example was made in 1979-80 and has beautiful factory engraving paired with nice smooth magna stocks that look phenomenal set against the stainless finish. The serial matching box is marked with the engraving code “R003 Class A”, we carefully lifted the yellow sticker to confirm the code. This one has hardly any wear and the wear on the grips blends in easily to the grain. With its engraving, high condition, and serial matching box the Smith & Wesson collectors should be quite interested, this is a great addition to any collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
