The stocks have a few light nicks and scratches with one more notable nick in the left of the forend in the finger groove. There is a thin crack in the bottom of the wrist, extending across the bottom tang and into the checkering on each side. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 14 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad, 13 1/2″ to the back of the wood. Drop at comb is approximately 1 3/4″, drop at heel is 1 5/8″. The pad is still supple. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Blue & Coin with Gold Trim
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bores. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 10/10.
The sub-gauge tubes are mostly bright with some scattered stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the sub-gauge bores rate 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. Most of the balance is wear on the barrels from the forend, concealed when assembled. There are a few tiny marks and the trigger shows handling wear. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Fine condition and would rate Excellent but for the crack in the wrist.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including the ejectors. The barrels lock up with no play to the receiver. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a SKB case, the sub-gauge and additional chokes described above, 12 and 28 gauge choke wrenches, wrench for adjusting the buttplate, Browning parts list, Browning factory letter, and manuals.
Our Assessment: Browning Citori shotguns are extremely dependable and make for great investments. The Citori was introduced in 1973 as an alternative to the highly successful Superposed model. It has been made ever since in numerous calibers and configurations filling just about any role you could think of for an over under shotgun. This one is a 12 Gauge Grade VI Trap that was made in 1989. It has beautiful scroll engraving surrounding gold game scenes. This Citori is a thing of beauty with sleek lines and gorgeous engraving, truly a masterpiece. This shotgun is certainly a looker that will turn some heads, a prime contender to add to a collection. It also comes with a nice set of accessories, allowing the use of 12 gauge or 28 gauge, with each threaded for removable chokes. This makes it a versatile gun which will be just as useful at the range or in the field as it will be beautiful on display. Please see our photos and good luck!
