Our Assessment: This engraved Remington Model 11 from 1942 presents as an attractive, well-preserved example of the classic Remington long-run semi-auto. The 24” vented barrel with Cutts compensator, bright bore (rated 9/10), and a functioning long-recoil action indicate the gun is mechanically sound and ready for service following routine maintenance. The two-piece walnut stock is engraved (right buttstock pheasant scene) and shows only light compression marks and scratches with no chips or structural cracks; overall the wood rates about Fine. The metal retains approximately 96% of its finish with light handling wear, scattered light pitting and a modest patina to the receiver; the engraved duck (left) and pheasant (right) scenes are clear and add visual appeal. Screw heads range from sharp to lightly tooled but serviceable and all markings are legible.

This Model 11 will appeal both to shooters seeking a reliable, attractive vintage field shotgun and to collectors who value period engraving and overall originality. The bright bore and high finish retention bolster its desirability and usability, while the light pitting/patina keep it from grading as near-mint—placing it solidly in the Very Good category.
