Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 89% of its metal finish. The action shows light operational wear. The barrel has scattered light-to-moderate nicks, scuffs, and dings along with a few more notable dings through the finish on the top of the barrel forward of the boss. Screws are sharp. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the top-rear rear of the control feed bolt. Pulled to the OFF, pushed to the front the safety is ON, locking both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 Standard Rifle chambered for the .270 Winchester Centerfire cartridge and made in 1937, the 2nd year of production. The rifle has some wear that is most prominent on the barrel. It has strong mechanics and a quality bore. Whether you’re looking to add to your Winchester collection or just want a great hunting rifle, this will be a great gun to add to any safe in America. Please see our photos and good luck!
