Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade in-line dovetailed to a hooded, ramped, banded base at the muzzle. The rear sight is an Express-style fixed “V”-notch dovetailed to a quarter-rib fixed to the rear of the barrel. There is a scope base screwed to the chamber ring and another integral to the rib. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered XX grade walnut with capped pistol grip, straight comb, checkered steel buttplate and a sling stud in the belly (there is another sling mount banded to the barrel in front of the forend. There are a few light nicks and drag-lines, most notable on the left of the stock behind the grip. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has no notable wear with well defined checkering. Overall, the stocks are in Fine condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few minor marks. The action shows faint operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. There is a safety mounted on the upper tang. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

A compact .22 caliber centerfire cartridge, the .22 Hornet is great for varmint and small game. It is also a favorite among Turkey hunters. This wonderful cartridge is paired with beautiful walnut stocks and a simple, robust falling block action. The rifle has factory iron sights, but also has bases for a scope.
