Our Assessment: The DWM P08 Luger is one of the most iconic pistols in history, instantly recognizable for its unique toggle-lock mechanism and sharply contoured frame. This particular example was manufactured in 1914, the first year of World War I, and would have been among the earliest P08s issued during that massive conflict. With all serialized parts matching—including the small components like the sideplate, takedown lever, and firing pin—this example offers strong collector appeal.

Lugers made by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) before and during the war are particularly sought after for their pre-war craftsmanship and finish quality. The original blue is still present at about 90%, and the grips remain in Very Good condition. With its clear markings, strong bore, and functional mechanics, this Luger would make an excellent addition to a World War I or German military sidearm collection.

Whether you’re a historical firearms enthusiast, military collector, or Luger aficionado, this 1914 DWM P08 is a fine example of pre-war German engineering and a tangible piece of martial history. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
