The top of the receiver is marked “1915” The toggle is marked with the “DWM” logo. The takedown lever is marked “55” The front of the frame is marked “5555b” The side plate is marked “55” The grips are not marked.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a V-notch integral to the rear of the toggle assembly.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The pistol has checkered walnut grip panels. The grips show light handling wear, with a few small scratches. There are no cracks or chips. The stock rates in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is light erosion and pitting in the bore, primarily towards the muzzle. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85% of its original finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear. There are light scratches on the barrel and frame. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Luger P08 is one of the most iconic handguns in history, widely recognized for its precision engineering and historical significance. This example, manufactured in 1916 by DWM, was produced during World War I and likely saw service in the German military. It retains its original finish and matching serial numbers, making it a highly desirable collector’s piece.
