Our Assessment: This long-barreled DWM Luger carbine configuration reflects the experimental and commercial creativity of the 1920s, when Germany’s arms industry—restricted by the Treaty of Versailles—shifted production toward export models and sporting adaptations of military designs. The blank chamber, commercial crown-N proofs, and .30 Luger chambering place this pistol squarely within that interwar market, where DWM offered finely finished, long-barreled variants that blended the precision toggle-link action with the enhanced sight radius sought by target shooters and sporting users. Its 11¾-inch barrel, strawed small parts, and high-polish blue capture the elegant mechanical style associated with commercial Lugers of the period.
Chambered in .30 Luger (7.65×21mm), the cartridge that accompanied the earliest Luger pistols at the turn of the century, the pistol continues the lineage of high-velocity, mild-recoiling rounds that helped establish the model’s reputation for accuracy. This example’s bright bore, sharp rifling, and strong original finish highlight the quality of DWM’s commercial work during the interwar years, preserving the distinctive long-barreled silhouette that made these carbines one of the more visually striking developments in the Luger family.
