Our Assessment: This drilling is a beautiful example of the craftsmanship that typified the golden age of European sporting arms in the early 20th century. While we are not able to definitively confirm the maker, the lack of a prominent manufacturer’s marking combined with the extensive hand-engraving and matching serial numbers leads us to believe this is potentially a guild gun — one crafted by a consortium of skilled gunsmiths rather than a large factory. Featuring two 16 gauge shotgun barrels over a potent 9.3x74R rifle barrel, it would have been a prized possession for hunters pursuing everything from upland birds to large European game like boar or stag.

Guild guns were often custom-built to an individual buyer’s specifications, showcasing a high level of artistry and mechanical precision. The 9.3x74R cartridge remains a respected and capable round in European hunting traditions, offering strong stopping power in a relatively manageable package. The horn furniture, pop-up rifle sight, and tasteful engraving all speak to the quality typically associated with guild craftsmanship. This example’s Fine condition, strong bores, and original finish make it particularly desirable for collectors and hunters alike.

Whether you are a serious sporting enthusiast, a vintage firearms collector, or simply admire the old-world artistry found in these incredible multi-barrel guns, this Guild-style Drilling offers exceptional versatility and timeless craftsmanship.
