Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the Hart barrel is marked “6/284 / 262 ND” at the chamber. The bottom of the bolt is matched and hand-marked “323565”.

Barrel Length: 26” Hart Barrel 1×10″ Twist

Sights / Optics: There are no iron sights. The left of the receiver has a pair of drilled, tapped, and filled holes. The top of the receiver is installed with a pair of bases and rings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece press-checkered wood Remington BDL stock with a pistol grip, monte carlo comb, cheekpiece, black caps with white spacers, and a black rubber buttpad. There are some compressions, draglines, and a few little scratches and nicks through the finish. The most noticeable marks are on the belly of the buttstock. There are holes in the belly and bottom of the forend from previously installed sling studs. There are light handling marks. The checkering is intact. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the aftermarket buttpad and 12 1/4″ to the wood. The pad shows light wear and is pliable. The stock rates in about Fine overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original to Components, the barrel is not original.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some light handling marks on the barrel. There are some light marks on the receiver with a bit of thinning on the rear edge. The bolt handle has some light thinning from use. The bottom metal has some scuffs that have thinned the finish. There is standard operational wear. The markings are clear. The screw sockets are strong. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger and action have been upgraded and the action has been bedded in the stock. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the factory 6mm Remington 24″ barrel, 16 loaded rounds, 88 pieces of brass, and a Redding die set. It has a bright bore with sharp rifling and some light marks on the exterior.

Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement and has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. This one has been upgraded by Dan Dowling for superior performance. This 700 has been upgraded and re-barreled with a 26″ Hart barrel chambered for 6mm-284 and has a Jewell trigger. Our consignor has informed us that he used a strict brake in procedure and he was able to get an average group of 0.40″. This one has had nice custom modifications done further enhancing is performance potential and hitting your mark should be no problem once you install a scope. Please see our photos and good luck!
