Our Assessment: The epitome of strength and beauty among bolt action rifles, the famous Model 76 is well built, pleasing to the eye and deadly accurate. Its exceptionally solid Mauser type action and controlled feed bolt produce world-renowned accuracy and shot-to-shot consistency, and the fit and finish are impeccable. Dakota made their way into the rifle market producing high-quality rifles at “affordable” prices, though their quality means that affordable is in relation to rifles such as Blaser, Cooper and other high-end manufacturers. Beginning in 1982, they have been known as one of the top makers of bolt action rifles ever since.

This is a Model 76 African Grade bolt action rifle from Dakota Arms. Distinguished by its “R” prefix serial number, this example deviates from the standard African grade with a 26? barrel, no nosecap on the forend, and a lack of barrel markings. Chambered for .416 Rigby with a beautiful walnut stock and a matte blued finish, this is a gorgeous rifle that will make a nice safari gun for one lucky winner. Please see our photos and good luck!
