Action Type: Detachable Magazine Double Action DA/SA & Fast Action Semi-Automatic Pistol with Ambidextrous Frame Safety. To activate fast action, push the hammer forwards when cocked and it will go forwards and the trigger will also. Once pushed forwards, the trigger provides a very light pretravel instead of the heavier double action.
Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “DAEWOO” and “DP51 9MM PARA / MADE IN KOREA”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number. The right side of the barrel is marked “Imported by C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT”. The right side of the chambr is marked “9MM PARA”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a white dot and is integral to the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two white dots and is dovetailed into the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black plastic two-piece panels with smooth borders and “DPI” logos. There are some light rubs to the smooth borders. The checkering is mainly intact and attractive with only a few flattened peaks. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a couple of light rubs on the slide. There are a couple thin scratches on the left side of the barrel at the front. There is standard operational wear to the barrel. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are strong and clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included with this pistol are an unlabeled factory black hard case and a 10-round magazine. The magazine has some light finish loss form standard operation and rates in about Fine plus condition.
Our Assessment: The Daewoo DP51 was introduced around the early ‘90s and is primarily used by South Korean commissioned officers in the military. The pistol is a 9mm semi-auto produced in South Korea which has an unusual action dubbed the “fast action”. The fast action mode allows the trigger travel of the double-action mode and the trigger weight of single-action mode. This allows a more accurate first shot due to the lighter weight of the trigger. It is also safer due to the longer trigger travel required to fire the pistol. A light pull on the trigger causes the hammer to flick back, after which the pistol would behave in conventional single-action mode. The pistol can also be fired in traditional double and single-action modes. This one has been very well taken care of by its previous owner and has hardly any marks or wear. This would make a great defensive pistol and will make for a fun range workhorse. Please see our photos and good luck!
