Overall Condition: This rifle retains over 90% of its finish. The new parts (including the receiver and barrel) are in Excellent condition. The original surplus components show honest wear from service, with thinning on the trunnion, stock hardware, and select metal surfaces. The markings are clear, and the screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Excellent condition.

Our Assessment:
Though it resembles an AK, the Czech VZ 58 is a completely different and highly advanced design. With a short-stroke gas system, tilting breechblock, and a lightweight milled receiver, it offers excellent reliability and accuracy in a compact package. This particular example was assembled using both original military surplus parts and newly manufactured components by Czech Small Arms, imported through CzechPoint USA.
The textured “beaver barf” composite furniture is distinctive and rugged, and the rifle includes a full complement of original accessories. While the older parts show their age, the bore is superb, and the overall finish is strong. These rifles are becoming increasingly desirable for collectors and shooters alike, not just for their Cold War history but also for their mechanical excellence and unique character. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
