Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “1:8″ / 6.5 GRENDEL”. The right side of the barrel is marked with a series of proof marks and the “19” date code. The left side of the receiver is marked C878655 / MADE IN / CZECH REPUBLIC”, “CZ 527”, and the CZ logo. 

Barrel Length: 24″ with flash hider. 1:8″ Twist. 

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with 1″ CZ rings for optics. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut stock, with a semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, black rubber CZ buttpad, and sling rings front and rear. There is a nylon/neoprene sling attached to the stock, as sell as a bipod attached to the forend. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows signs of a partial refinish, with sanding marks, and sanded checkering. The refinish still needs to be completed with the finish of your choice. The stock also shows light wear, with light scratches, dings, and compressions scattered throughout.The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Good condition. 

Magazine Quantity & Condition: 4x 5rd factory magazines, all of which are in Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with a few light scratches and dings scattered throughout the metal surfaces. The bluing is deep and dark throughout. The bolt shows some light operational wear. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition. 

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope rings, sling, bipod, and the 4 magazines as mentioned above. 

Our Assessment: The CZ 527 is built around CZ’s compact mini-Mauser action, a scaled controlled-feed design that has earned a strong following among shooters who appreciate traditional bolt-action engineering in a lightweight package. Produced in the Czech Republic and imported by CZ-USA, the 527 line became known for its set-trigger system, solid machining, and excellent barrel quality. By 2019, the model had developed a reputation as one of the more refined small-action sporting rifles available in modern production.

Chambered in 6.5 Grendel, this rifle pairs the 527 platform with a cartridge originally developed in the early 2000s to maximize efficiency and ballistic performance from a compact case. The 6.5 Grendel is widely regarded for delivering strong downrange energy and favorable ballistic coefficients while maintaining moderate recoil. The 24 inch barrel with 1:8 twist supports stabilization of heavier 6.5mm projectiles, and the included flash hider, multiple factory magazines, bipod, and sling reflect a practical, field-ready configuration.

This example presents in very good overall metal condition, retaining most of its original blued finish with only light handling and operational wear visible. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling. The walnut stock shows evidence of a partial refinish with sanding marks and reduced checkering definition, and will require completion with a finish of the owner’s choosing. With four factory magazines and included accessories, this CZ 527 stands as a well-equipped example of a modern mini-Mauser hunting rifle chambered in a contemporary, efficiency-focused cartridge.
