Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The set trigger has a light, crisp, and clean break. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope and the magazine as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: Introduced during the early post-Cold War years, the CZ/BRNO 527 quickly gained a reputation as one of the most refined small-bore bolt-actions on the market. Built on a true micro-Mauser action with controlled-round feed and a crisp set trigger, the rifle offered the kind of precision and mechanical elegance typically found on European sporting rifles of a much higher price class. Chambered here in .22 Hornet, it reflects a cartridge lineage dating back to the early 1930s, celebrated for its mild report, low recoil, and excellent small-game accuracy at woodland and farm-country distances.

This 1993 example captures the transitional BRNO craft at its best. The machining is clean, the bluing deep, the action smooth, and the set trigger breaks with the kind of precision that made the 527 famous among varmint and bench shooters alike. The 24-inch barrel provides full ballistic efficiency for the .22 Hornet, and the condition of the bore shows that this rifle has seen only light, careful use. Paired with a Leupold VX-III 2.5–8×36, an optic equally at home on classic European-style sporters, the setup reflects a thoughtful field rifle configuration built for accuracy without unnecessary weight.

Altogether, this CZ BRNO 527 presents as a finely preserved small-caliber sporting rifle that continues to embody the strengths of its Czechoslovak design heritage; controlled-round feeding, excellent barrels, and an exceptional set trigger. In .22 Hornet, it remains one of the most enjoyable and practical rifles ever produced for small-game hunting and precision varmint work.
