Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Remington / MODEL 700” at the midsection. The left side of the barrel is marked “Barreled by Jarrett” and “30-06 Sprg.”. The bolt is matched and marked “9813”.

Sights / Optics: There are no iron sights. The top of the receiver is installed with a one-piece base and a pair of rings holding a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10×40 scope. The scope has some scattered light handling marks. There are a few scattered light marks. The rubber ring is missing from the focal lens. The scope has a duplex reticle and the glass is clear. The scope rates in about Fine condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a textured black composite H-S Precision stock with gray webbing, a pistol grip, straight comb, black rubber buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. A bedding job has been done. There are some scattered light handling marks. There are no major defects. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of black rubber buttpad. The pad has some light wear. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Matte Black
Finish Originality: Original to Custom Build. The bottom metal and barrel are not original to the receiver.
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The rifle features a Jarrett barrel and our consignor has stated that the bottom meta is a Sunnyhill bottom metal. There is a scrape that has removed surface metal on the top edge of the muzzle, it has been touched up. There are a few scattered rubs and light handling marks. The bolt knob has a couple of marks through the finish. The bolt handle has some light wear. The markings are strong, the screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement. Remington had been producing sporting rifles for decades, but their Post-WWI Model 30 Sporter took too much time & money to make and required too much milling. After WWII they designed the Model 721 which used a receiver made of bar stock, meaning it could be turned on a lathe, cutting production time & cost. The basic design of the 721 went through further developments under the direction of engineer Mike Walker, and Remington went on to produce the Model 722 and Model 725, and finally, in 1962, the Model 700 was born. With the design, Walker desired to increase accuracy over previous designs so tight bore & chamber tolerances, a short leade, and fast lock time were used. Since its inception in 1962, it has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. If it hasn’t there are custom parts and gunsmiths out there to get it exactly how you like. This one is from the 1980s and has been customized with a Jarrett barrel, H-S Precision stock, and topped with a Leupold scope. This one has a non-checkered bolt which happened to some Model 700s of this time got smooth bolts that had been interchangeable with their no-frills Sportsman 78 rifle. This is a tastefully customized rifle built with good components, there is hardly any wear and the bore is great.
