Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a one-piece picatinny rail for optics.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece McMillan A5 fiberglass stock, with a textured trim pistol grip, adjustable comb, adjustable LOP, butthook, rubber buttpad, and a textured wide beavertail forend. There are QD sling mounts front and rear, as well as a sling stud under the forend for the addition of a bipod. The LOP currently measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The LOP is adjustable using spacers, but no spacers are included. If LOP spacers are wanted, they can be ordered from McMillan’s website. The stock shows light handling wear. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action with no play, and the barrel is completely free-floating all the way to the action. The texturing on the pistol grip and forend are well defined, and the stock’s finish is intact. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Fine condition.

Type of Finish: Stainless

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with only a few scattered minor scratches and dings throughout the metal surfaces. The stainless finish is intact throughout, and the jeweling on the bolt is bright and vivid, despite showing some operational wear on the bolt body. There is very minor freckling of surface corrosion (purely aesthetic) starting to form on the left side of the barrel, just above the date code. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. The aftermarket flat-faced trigger has a very light, crisp, and clean break with minimal take-up or over-travel. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the picatinny rail as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: This custom Remington Model 700 in .300 Winchester Magnum represents a modern precision-oriented build that blends the inherent accuracy of Remington’s 5R-rifled stainless barrel with the ergonomics and stability of a McMillan A5 tactical stock. Manufactured in 2015 and fitted with a 24-inch heavy contour barrel (26 inches with the installed 2-port brake), this rifle was clearly assembled with long-range performance in mind. The 5R rifling profile, originally developed for the U.S. Army M24 program is known for reduced bullet deformation, excellent consistency, and ease of cleaning. Combined with a 1:10 twist rate, this barrel is optimized for heavy .30-caliber projectiles commonly used in modern long-range .300 Win. Mag. loads.

The McMillan A5 stock further elevates the rifle’s capabilities. Its wide beavertail forend, vertical pistol grip, adjustable comb, and adjustable length of pull give the shooter a highly stable, repeatable interface, important for maximizing precision from prone, bench, or supported field positions. The stock’s tight inletting, free-float design, and rigid fiberglass construction ensure consistent accuracy regardless of environmental conditions. Light handling marks are the only notable signs of use.

Mechanically and cosmetically, the rifle remains in excellent shape. The stainless finish shows only minor marks, the bolt retains vivid jeweling, and the bore is outstanding; bright, sharp, and erosion-free. The aftermarket flat-faced trigger is exceptionally clean, with a light and crisp break that complements precision shooting. The installed Picatinny rail allows straightforward mounting of modern optics and accessories.

At 10 lbs. 6.2 oz., this rifle is built to absorb recoil, maintain stability under magnification, and deliver the long-range consistency expected of a properly configured .300 Win. Mag. system. Whether used for extended-range hunting, steel-match shooting, or precision load development, this custom 700 provides a capable, well-balanced platform with premium components and excellent execution.
