Markings: The right side of the barrel is marked “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45”. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”. The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871 / JULY 2,72 JAN. 19,75” and with the rampant colt logo. The bottom front of the frame is marked with the serial number “NRA6202”. The left side of the upper and lower grip frame straps (under the left grip) are marked with the matching serial number. The inside rear face of the loading gate is marked with the assembly number “314”, found again on the right rear of the frame. The front face of the cylinder is marked “202”, the rear face has a rampant colt. The left front of the trigger guard is marked with a “VP”, the left rear “P” and the right is marked “V”.
Barrel Length: 4 3/4”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a thicker replacement on an original Colt barrel. The front sight is a quarter round blade fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square groove in the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are one-piece smooth black ebony wood replacement grips. The original grips on the NRA Commemorative SAA’s were walnut with gold NRA medallions. The grips only show very minor handling marks. This revolver has a replacement “Bullseye” ejector head. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition, as replaced.
Type of Finish: Blue & Case Color Frame, Refinished Silver-plated backstrap and trigger guard.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is limited operational or storage wear. There are thin turn lines on the cylinder. The case color is strong. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The action locks up tight with very little play. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Colt Single Action Army needs little introduction — an icon of late-19th-century American armsmaking that codified the single-action revolver silhouette.
This appears to be a customized 3rd-generation NRA Commemorative Colt from 1971 with the 4 3/4″ barrel. The barrel appears to be a replacement aftermarket Colt barrel with a replaced front sight as it does NOT have the “NRA Centennial” markings on the barrel. The barrel is finished in blue, and there’s vivid case coloring on the frame. The trigger guard and backstrap have been refinished in silver plating but are still matching to the NRA commemorative serial number, as is the cylinder. Chambered in .45 Colt, a cartridge born in the era of lever-guns and frontier shooting, this revolver pairs period-correct ballistics with the visual poetry of a correctly proportioned Colt service-style handgun.
Originally produced in 1971 to commemorate 100 years of the National Rifle Association, this is a wonderful tribute to our nation’s leading firearms organization that has been customized to meet the desires of the eventual owner. The NRA medallion grips have been replaced with black ebony wood grips. The revolver itself is excellent with an excellent bore. This is a great firearm to add to any collection in America.
