Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COLT” and “AUTOMATIC / CAL. .22 LONG RIFLE” and with a Rampant Colt logo.  The left side of the frame is marked “THE WOODSMAN”. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PAT’D DEC.22.1903. AUG.27.1918. SEPT.3.1918.”. The left front of the trigger guard is marked “P” and with “VP” in a triangle. The front strap is marked “120915”, marked again on the bottom of the slide.

Barrel Length: 6 5/8″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned to a slotted base fixed to the front of the barrel, adjustable for elevation. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the slide, adjustable for windage.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered walnut. The grips have minor handling wear with a semi-circle of compressed checkers on the right panel toward the top and some verdigris at the grip screw escutcheons. The checkering is otherwise well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Fine condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 92% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. There are some scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches, most along the left of the barrel. There is some light finish wear on each side of the barrel at the muzzle. The screw head is sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide is not designed to lock back on an empty magazine but the safety can be used to hold the slide open for cleaning. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a maroon colored one-piece hinge-lid cardboard box with model-matching label one 10 round blued magazine with its top inch “In the White”. The box has three serial numbers hand-written on the bottom, two match the pistol including the one written in pencil, which is appropriate for this vintage box. The box has scattered storage wear, some spots of discoloration and fraying at edges and corners, in about Good-plus condition. The magazine floorplate is marked “COLT WOODSMAN / CAL. 22 L.R.”. The magazine shows minor operational wear, intact feed lips and a strong spring, in about Fine condition.
