Mechanics: The action functions incorrectly. The safety function does not work, and will engage in any hammer position. Please see a certified gunsmith to get this fixed. We did not fire this revolver, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: A well-presented Colt Single Action Army from 1956 that shows pleasing original blue and case-colored surfaces and strong overall character for a Second-Generation example. The white synthetic grips are in excellent condition with only light surface marks, the bore is bright with sharp rifling (9/10), and roughly 85% of the original finish remains with honest, period-appropriate handling wear — light scratching on the barrel and cylinder, mild thinning near the muzzle, a muted case color and a turn line on the cylinder. Sharp screws, unmarred pins and clear markings round out a rifleman’s revolver that presents attractively for display or collection.
Mechanics require attention: during our check the safety/lockup did not operate correctly, with the safety function engaging in any hammer position. We did not fire the revolver — a certified gunsmith should inspect and service the lockwork before any use. Please look at our photos and good luck on your bid! -N.P
