Our Assessment: This Colt Signature Series 1860 Army revolver began life as a faithful black powder reproduction of the original Civil War-era Colt. These Signature Series models were the last run of factory-authorized replicas made under the Colt name, boasting high polish finishes and Sam Colt’s signature rollmark on the frame. At some point, this example was thoughtfully converted to fire metallic cartridges—specifically .44 Colt—by way of a gated, drop-in conversion cylinder.
This transformation gives the gun added functionality and convenience for modern shooting, while preserving the overall visual lines of the iconic percussion revolver. The .44 Colt chambering is an appropriate historical nod to early post-war conversions, offering a classic shooting experience in a readily available modern cartridge. With its 8″ barrel, deep blue finish, and case hardened frame, this revolver makes a striking impression and delivers smooth mechanical function.
Whether you’re a Cowboy Action shooter, Old West enthusiast, or simply appreciate historically-inspired craftsmanship, this converted 1860 Army brings the best of both worlds: period charm with practical shootability. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
