The factory box is serialized to the pistol and reflects its configuration.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black plastic with Rampant Colt logos in ovals at the tops of the grips and embossed American Eagles at the bottoms of the grips. Finish Originality: The finish is original.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 96% of its current metal finish. There are multiple tiny dings in the underside of the barrel at the front of the cylinder pin. There is a thin “V” shaped mark on the butt of the grip frame. The flanks of the hammer have areas of darkening patina and a couple spots of pin prick erosion The cylinder does NOT have a drag line, indicating limited use, if any outside of the factory. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine Plus to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder lockup shows barely perceptible play. The hammer has ¼ and ½ cock safety positions. The trigger pull is crisp and the effort required to cock the hammer is minimal. We did not fire this revolver.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with its original factory white outer cardboard sleeve, showing a tear at the rear end label fold, with some oil staining on the exterior areas, rating in Good to Very Good condition. The factory inner blue two piece cardboard box is included as well, without any notable marks, with its gray foam inner liner, all in Excellent condition. Also included is a factory lock, keys, trigger guard hang tag, clear chamber indicator, owner’s manual and safety pamphlet, all in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: From http://www.deviantart.com/morelikethis/322444596/digitalart/drawings/technical?view_mode=2#skins: “The Colt Single Action Army handgun is a single action revolver with a revolving cylinder holding six rounds. It was designed for the US government service revolver trials of 1873 by Colt’s Manufacturing Company and adopted as the standard military service revolver until 1892. Although the SAA has been offered in over 30 different calibers and various barrel lengths, its overall appearance has remained consistent since 1873. Colt has discontinued its production twice, but brought it back due to excessive demand.” This is a very nice looking Shopkeeper’s variant of the famous SAA revolver; without an ejector rod housing and shorter 4″ barrel, it certainly stands out from the crowd and retains about 96% of its blue and case colored finishes. Without any evidence of firing outside the factory, this one will appeal to shooters looking to add a beautiful single action to their collection but would do just as well for personal protection.
