Our Assessment: The Colt Single Action Army 125th Anniversary revolver was introduced in 1961 to celebrate 125 years of Colt’s firearms history, and it remains one of the most collectible commemorative SAAs ever produced. Chambered in .45 Long Colt with the classic 7.5” barrel, it features striking blue and gold-plated finishes with walnut grips bearing Colt medallions. The left barrel legend proudly marks the “125th Anniversary,” while the frame carries the standard Colt patent dates. These revolvers were built in limited numbers and have become highly sought after among Colt collectors for both their historical significance and their striking presentation.

This example is in Excellent condition, retaining about 99% of its finish with only faint evidence of handling—most notably a light cylinder drag line and some tiny spots of gold plating wear on the edges. The grips are clean and crisp with minimal marks, the bore is bright with sharp rifling, and the action functions properly. Even without its original box and paperwork, this revolver stands as a fine collectible commemorative Colt SAA. For collectors of iconic Colt revolvers, this 1961 125th Anniversary edition represents an opportunity to own a beautifully finished, historically significant sixgun tied to the enduring legacy of Samuel Colt and his revolvers.
