Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “PYTHON 357 / * 357 MAGNUM CTG. *”. The right side of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”. The flat under the crane and the crane are marked with the serial number “K95832”. The side of the frame is marked with a “Rampant Colt” logo. The left front of the trigger guard is marked with “VP” in a triangle and at the rear with “C”.

Sights / Optics: The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation that is pinned to the top strap of the frame. The front sight is a serrated ramp blade pinned to the top of the rib. The top of the barrel rib and the top strap have a matte finish to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are classic two-piece checkered walnut with Colt medallions. The checkering is well-defined with sharp peaks. There are no chips or cracks. There is light to mild handling wear but the grips remain attractive. There is a larger compression on the bottom of the checkering on the right grip. Overall, the grips rate in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its semi-bright Stainless Steel finish. The balance of the finish shows light signs of previous operation. The cylinder has a thin turn-line. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The lock-up on this revolver is solid, with no play when the trigger is depressed. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver. This revolver has a wide target style hammer and a serrated trigger. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Colt Python is widely regarded as one of the finest revolvers ever made, known for its exceptional craftsmanship, smooth double-action trigger, and iconic ventilated rib barrel. This stainless steel Python with a 6” barrel, manufactured in 1969, represents a sweet spot in Colt’s production era when quality control and fit-and-finish were at their peak. Built on a forged frame with a full lug barrel and adjustable sights, this revolver was designed for both precision target shooting and serious defensive use. The wide target hammer, serrated trigger, and tuned action contribute to its legendary shootability.
This particular example is in Fine Plus condition, retaining about 98% of its original stainless finish with only minor signs of use such as a faint cylinder turn line and some light burn marks on the face of the cylinder. The bore is pristine, and lock-up is tight with no play when the trigger is depressed. It comes with the classic walnut grips with gold Colt medallions, plus its original Colt box and manual.
