Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “PYTHON .357 / * .357 MAGNUM CTG.*” The right side of the barrel is marked ‘COLT’S MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” The left side of the frame has the Rampant Colt logo. The serial number is marked on the frame beneath the crane.
Barrel Length: 8″ Ribbed Barrel
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade fixed to the barrel rib. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation.
Grip Configuration & Condition: The revolver is equipped with Pachmayr rubber grips featuring gold-colored Colt medallions. The grips are free of major wear or damage and rate in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: High Polish Colt Royal Blue
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion or fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The muzzle shows thinning from holstering, and there is rubbing under the full lug. There is an almost imperceptible turn line on the cylinder. The balance of the finish shows minimal evidence of handling or use. The screw heads are sharp, and the pins are clean. The markings are crisp. Overall, this revolver rates in about Fine to Very Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The timing and lock-up are excellent. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
