Our Assessment: The Colt Peacekeeper is one of the more intriguing Colt revolvers from the 1980s, produced during a period when the company was facing a labor strike that disrupted its production lines. Introduced in 1984, the Peacekeeper was essentially a Colt Trooper Mk V fitted with a matte black “parkerized-style” finish in place of Colt’s traditional polished blue. This cost-saving measure was intended to keep production moving and prices competitive, but it inadvertently created one of Colt’s more uncommon modern revolver variants. Chambered in .357 Magnum and fitted with a 4” vent-rib barrel, this example combines the accuracy, power, and rugged utility that made the Trooper line a favorite of both law enforcement and civilian shooters alike.
Collectors today recognize the Peacekeeper as a scarce model with a limited production run and an aesthetic that sets it apart from Colt’s more refined offerings. This revolver retains about 95% of its original matte finish, has an excellent bore, and comes with its original factory box and manual—making it a well-rounded package for both shooters and enthusiasts. For the Colt collector, it represents a chance to add a revolver that marks a specific chapter in Colt’s manufacturing history, while for the shooter it still offers the dependable strength of a double-action .357 Magnum built to Colt standards. This is a piece that bridges utility and collectability, and it’s one we don’t expect to stay on the shelf long. Please see our photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
