Markings: The left of the slide is marked “NIGHT DEFENDER / -SERIES 90-” bookeneded by rampant colts, the right is marked “LIGHTWEIGHT”. The right of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFOD, CONN. U.S.A.” and with the serial number. The left of the trigger guard has a “VP” in triangle proof and “L” inspection mark. The top of the barrel at the chamber is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO-“.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed to the front of the slide, the rear sight is a Novak square-notch dovetailed and screw-set to the back of the slide with two white dots. The lamp has dimmed some but is still useable as a night sight in very low light environments.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered G10 panels with silver-colored Colt medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has very little play to the frame. The trigger has just a little bit of creep. This pistol has a Series ’80 style firing pin safety. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a blue plastic Colt box with serial-matching label, manual, cable lock and a single 7-round Wilson Combat magazines, all in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This is a Colt Night Defender Lightweight, a Talo Exclusive Officer’s-model 1911-style pistol chambered in .45 ACP. This example is in Excellent condition showing little sign of use. A lightweight, compact pistol chambered for the potent .45 cartridge and with a 1911 trigger will make for a great concealed carry pistol.
