Our Assessment: The Colt New Frontier Single Action Army was introduced in 1961 as a modernized version of Colt’s legendary Peacemaker, offering target-style features while retaining the classic single-action design. Distinguished by its fully adjustable rear sight and ramped front blade, the New Frontier gave shooters a level of precision that the traditional fixed-sight SAA could not provide. Chambered in .45 Colt, this revolver retains all the traditional charm of the Old West while appealing to target shooters and collectors alike. The 7.5” barrel makes this a striking full-length model, offering excellent sight radius and balance.
This 1965-manufactured example is in Excellent condition, retaining about 98% of its original blue and vivid case coloring with only a faint cylinder drag line and a few light barrel scratches. The stag bone grips are an eye-catching upgrade, rating Excellent with no cracks or chips. The bore is bright with sharp rifling, free from erosion, and rates 9 out of 10. Mechanically, it functions perfectly with a crisp action and tight lockup. Please look at our photos and good luck with your bid! -N.P
