Our Assessment: Offered here is a matched commemorative set of Colt single action revolvers produced in 1964, paying tribute to both Montana’s territorial centennial and the broader Diamond Jubilee of American statehood. The Montana Territory Centennial model, chambered in .45 Colt with its longer barrel and case colored frame, evokes the rugged frontier image of 19th-century Montana. The Diamond Jubilee model, based on the Frontier Scout platform and chambered in .22LR, features an elegantly engraved cylinder and gold embellishments celebrating U.S. statehood milestones.
While commemoratives often veer toward the ornamental, both of these Colts remain fully functional, mechanically sound, and extremely well-preserved. They retain their original finishes, faux pearl grips, and present with attractive period wood cases. The serial numbers—0749MA and 0749MF—suggest they were either matched at the time of issue or intentionally paired later, adding a layer of collectible charm.
Collectors of Colt revolvers, commemorative editions, or mid-century American firearms will appreciate this duo not only for their historical themes but for their outstanding condition and visual appeal. These revolvers celebrate American heritage in two iconic chamberings and represent Colt’s craftsmanship during a period of revived interest in classic Western arms. Don’t miss the chance to own this beautiful matched set of 1964 Colts. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
