Our Assessment: In 1955, the United States launched the first nuclear powered submarine, West Germany joined NATO, and Colt began shipping the finest precision combat and target revolver ever made. Each revolver was hand-tuned at the factory and this attention to detail shows both cosmetically and in operation. With barrel lengths ranging from 2.5?, such as this example, to 8? and with some of the finest machining and finishing ever seen in the industry, the Python has earned its reputation and continues to be sought after to this day. The revolvers were discontinued in the 1990s and briefly made an appearance as the Python Elite in the 2000s. The older generation of shooters & collectors who had experienced the originals still wanted one, and after appearances in TV series including “The Walking Dead” and in video games such as “Call of Duty: Black Ops”, the younger generations interest was piqued. While no longer in production, shooters and collectors alike longed for a Python, and after many requests, Colt knew it was time to cash in. The model was reintroduced in 2020 and was available in a stainless finish with either a 4.25″ or 6″ barrel. With classic styling and quality worthy of its name, this is a must-have…and one you won’t mind putting a few more rounds through than its older siblings. This particular example does not look to have seen much, if any use, and is ready for a spot in your collection. Please see our pictures and good luck!
