Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “KING COBRA” with an engraving of a Cobra’s head between the two words. The right side of the barrel is marked “-357 MAGNUM CARTRIDGE- / COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” The crane cut and crane are marked “KE8714”. The left side of the frame is marked with a Rampant Colt logo. The front top left side of the trigger guard is marked with the Verified Proof and the rear top left side is marked with a “6”.

Barrel Length: 4” with Full Length Top Rib and Full Length Underlug

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade with orange insert pinned to the rib. The rear sight is a square notched white outlined leaf adjustable for windage and elevation pinned to the topstrap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece black checkered rubber with finger grooves, silver Rampant Colt medallions, and molded banners at the bottoms that read “COLT”. The smooth portions of the grip show scattered scuff marks. The checkering is strong. There are no rips or tears. The grips rate in about Fine overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some light draglines from use and storagew with some scattered scuffs and rubs that have caused smooth spots, most noticeable on the sides of the barrel at the muzzle. There are a few little nicks. There is a turn line on the cylinder. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly and the cylinder lockup produces some light side to side movement. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The revolver comes in a blue plastic Colt Case with paperwork including manual. The case has faint storage wear, in about Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: Colt introduced the King Cobra in 1986 as an upgraded version of the venerable Trooper with a full rib and lug and stainless steel construction. With its 4” barrel and adjustable sights, this revolver has a nice balance between size and precision, and of course it was built with Colt quality. This revolver is in Fine Plus condition with about 97% of its stainless finish and a great bore. Please see our photos and good luck!
