Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-”. The underside of the barrel assembly, trigger guard and frame are marked “22911”. The butt and top of the loading lever are marked “2911”. The left side of the frame is marked “COLTS / PATENT”. The cylinder is marked with a naval scene and “COLT’S PATENT NO 22911 / ENGRAVED BY W.L. ORMSBY NEW YORK”.

Barrel Length: 7 ½” Octagonal Barrel

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass post threaded to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a “V” notch in the hammer, visible when cocked.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one-piece smooth walnut. The grip shows light handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grip is in about Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blue, Case Color & Silver

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The barrel has only light handling marks. The frame has a few small spots of discoloration from previous minor surface oxidation in otherwise strong case color. The grip frame has some draglines, a bit of mottled thinning, and a few light scratches on the trigger guard. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Colt woodgrain box with styrofoam tray, cardboard outer box, wood presentation case, powder flask, nipple wrench, cap tin, bullet mold, paperwork not including the manual, and a key to the case. The woodgrain box has a matching serial number in white. The box has some scattered scuffs through the finish and light edge wear, in about Fine condition. The outer cardboard box has some split edges and concert wear in about Very Good condition. The case has light wear on the interior from its contents, a few scattered scratches and scuffs on the exterior, and a bit of torn material on the bottom, in about Fine condition. The powder flask and mold have light wear, in about Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This Colt Percussion Revolver was reintroduced in 1971. The 1851 came in both C and F series configurations The C series such as this one has a beautiful bright “Royal Blue” Finish with a Silver plated grip frame and trigger guard assembly and was made in the serial number range of 4201-25099. This revolver is in about Excellent condition with little evidence of use but having some light wear from storage and handling. It comes with a presentation case and will make a nice display and addition to a percussion revolver collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
