The rear sight is a white-outlined square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the topstrap. The top of the rib and topstrap are matte finished for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one piece black checkered rubber with finger grooves and gold colored Colt medallions. The grip has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is well defined. There are no rips or tears. The grips are in Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: Brushed & Matte Stainless Steel

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 96% of its finish. Most of the balance is light wear on the frame from the grip, concealed when the grip is installed. The cylinder has a thin turn-line and there is a nick on the edge of one flute. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lock-up on this revolver has very little play on each chamber. The trigger is smooth in double action, and crisp in single action. We have not fired this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a blue plastic Colt box with an assortment of factory paperwork including manual and an orange plastic cylinder ring. Please note, the box does not have a label.

Our Assessment: One of Colt’s “Seven Serpents”, the King Cobra is a medium-frame 6-shot .357 revolver. It has the looks of a Python with lockwork more similar to the venerable Trooper line of revolvers. This example has a stainless steel finish with 6″ barrel. It is in Fine condition with about 96% of its finish, a great bore, and strong mechanics. This would make a great hunting sidearm or home defense revolver and would also fit in with a Colt collection that hasn’t added this snake to the pit. Please see our pictures and good luck!
