Our Assessment: A classic post-war Colt Government Model wearing the clean, authoritative lines that define the commercial 1911 of the 1960s. The steel slide and frame present the traditional silhouette — flat mainspring housing, crisp Colt bluing (on most ’68 examples), and the unmistakable balance of a full-size 5? Government Model. The pistol’s slide-to-frame fit, period-correct small sights, and simple, straight-back trigger give it the composed feel of an era when Colt’s commercial models were built with clear lineage to the wartime service pistols but with the refined machining and finish expected of a post-war civilian Colt. The inclusion of the original grips adds a welcome touch of authenticity and completes the period presentation.
