Markings: The right side of the slide is marked ”GOLD CUP / NATIONAL MATCH” with an engraving of a trophy cup. The left side of the slide is marked “GOLD CUP COMMANDER / Custom Edition” with the rampant Colt logo. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and with the serial number. The barrel is marked “-COLT 45 AUTO N.M.-“. The right side of the trigger guard is marked “Y”. The top of the rear sight is marked “ELLIASON”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the full-length rib on the top of the slide. The rear sight is an adjustable Elliason target sight for windage and elevation pinned to the rib. The top of the rib is serrated and the top of the slide is matte finished for glare reduction.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are custom checkered wood panels with smooth diamonds around the grip screws and Gold Rampant Medallions. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered minor marks in the matte finished areas. The action shows light operational wear. The grip screws have strong sockets. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The slide to frame fit has minor play. This pistol has a Series 80-style firing pin block. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with its factory blue hard case with sleeve, owner’s manual, and total of two magazines.
Our Assessment: Colt Gold Cup National Match pistols were the benchmark standard for a .45 Auto target pistol for decades. With hand-fitted parts, match grade barrels and bushings, adjustable target sights and a wider trigger adjustable for over-travel, they came from Colt’s factory with upgrades you could spend more than the price of the pistol to have done by a gunsmith on a standard 1911. This one is the Gold Cup Commander, with a shorter 4 ¼” barrel and stainless steel finish. This will make an Excellent collectors piece or range day shooter.
