Our Assessment: This is an original Colt Frontier Six Shooter, a variant of the legendary Colt Single Action Army chambered in .44-40 Winchester. Not only does this revolver feature the highly desirable “Colt Frontier Six Shooter” etched panel on the barrel, but it also retains its factory Nickel finish, making it an even rarer find for collectors. The etched panel is still visible, adding significant historical and collector value.

The Colt SAA was one of the most widely used revolvers in the American West, favored by lawmen, cowboys, and outlaws alike. The .44-40 WCF chambering was popular due to its compatibility with Winchester lever-action rifles, making it a practical and efficient choice for those who carried both a revolver and a rifle in the same caliber.

This revolver is a fantastic collector’s piece, particularly for those who appreciate antique Colt revolvers with factory Nickel finishes. The surviving etched panel and the revolver’s overall patina tell the story of its long service life. Whether you are a dedicated Colt collector or a fan of Old West firearms, this revolver is a must-have. Please see our high-quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
