Markings: The left of the slide is marked “COLT DEFENDER” in front of the slide serrations with a rampant colt behind, the right is marked “LIGHTWEIGHT”. The right of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFOD, CONN. U.S.A.” and with the serial number. The left of the trigger guard has a “VP” in triangle proof and “A” inspection mark. The top of the barrel at the chamber is marked “CAL. 9MM LUGER / -PARABELLUM-“.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed to the front of the slide, the rear sight is a Novak square-notch dovetailed and screw-set to the back of the slide. The lamp has dimmed slightly but is still useable as a night sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece Colt-branded checkered G10 panels made by VZ grips. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has very little play to the frame. The trigger has just a little bit of creep. This pistol has a Series ’80 style firing pin safety. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a blue plastic Colt box with serial-matching label, manual, and a total of two 8-round magazines, all in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Colt Defender Lightweight, Officer’s-model 1911-style pistol chambered for 9mm. This example is in Excellent condition showing little sign of use. A lightweight, compact pistol chambered for the 9mm cartridge and with a 1911 trigger will make for a great concealed carry pistol. This one, appearing to have spent more time in its box than out, will also be a nice addition to a Colt collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
