Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel above the muzzle. The rear sight is a square notch grooved into the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one-piece smooth bone. The grip shows no notable wear or damage, just a few faint handling and storage marks. There are no chips or cracks. The grip is in Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright, the rifling is sharp. There is some stubborn fouling but no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates a 9 or 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 96% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some mottled discoloration on the barrel and front of the frame. There are light nicks and handling marks throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks in each position with light play. We did not fire this firearm. We have cleaned this firearm and performed a mechanic’s check but expect many will want to clean the firearm again depending on their standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a Colt cardboard box with styrofoam insert (please note the serial-matching label on the box has naturally fallen off due to drying of the adhesive and the label is now loosely placed inside the styrofoam insert) and an instruction manual with factory handouts and other paperwork.
Our Assessment: Colt’s Model 1873, the Single Action Army, is the “gun that won the west”, perhaps the most iconic handgun of all time. For nearly 150 years, the gun has been produced in a variety of configurations, finishes and calibers with three separate generations (some would say four!). This makes them a prime piece for collectors who may wish to acquire specific variations or one of each. This revolver is a particularly scarce model and a beauty to behold.
Produced in 1985, this is number 90 in a limited run of 100 by the Colt Custom Shop. In Fine Plus condition with 96% of its original finish, a bright bore with sharp rifling and strong mechanics, this revolver will add to even advanced Colt collections. With a 3″ barrel, no ejector rod assembly, and chambered for the classic .45 Colt cartridge, this Sheriff’s model is a classy revolver from muzzle to butt, perfect for adding to a collection or as a BBQ gun.
