Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number at the breech and “Colt M-2012 / Cooper Firearms, Stevensville, MT, USA” at the midsection. The left side of the barrel is marked “.308 WIN” on the chamber. The underside of the bolt handle is hand-marked “0238”.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver is installed with a one-piece rail and a pair of rings holding a Sightron 10-50×60 scope. The scope has a few scattered scuffs and light marks with a few little nicks and scratches to the adjustment caps. The scope has a duplex reticle and the glass is clear. The scope rates in about Fine condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is smooth laminate wood with a contoured pistol grip, straight comb, and a black rubber buttpad. There are a few little scuffs and little compressions, they are noticeable on the right side of the forend at the front and on the left side at about the chamber ring, otherwise there are only light handling marks. The LOP measures approximately 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the solid black rubber basketweave buttpad. The recoil pad exhibits light wear. The stock rates in about Fine Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There are a few little pits in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a couple of tiny scuffs on the barrel that have thinned the finish and some scuffs on the bolt knob from standard use. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are deep. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is light and crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the scope and a 5-round magazine.
Our Assessment: This is a Colt M2012 made by Cooper Firearms of Montana. Cooper made their way into the rifle market producing high-quality rifles at “affordable” prices, though their quality means that affordable is in relation to rifles such as Blaser, Dakota and other high-end manufacturers. This example has a 22″ barrel chambered for .308 Winchester, a nice laminate wood stock, matte blued finish, and feeds from a detachable magazine. This is a quality rifle in a classic caliber that will make short work of game and paper targets alike. Please see our photos and good luck!
