Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright. The rifling is sharp. There is light erosion and stubborn fouling scattered throughout the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7+/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 15% of its metal finish. Remaining finish is scattered with some strong finish on the barrel, hammer, trigger, and protected areas. Most surfaces show wear treated with cold blue and areas going to a light patina. There are scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Good condition as not parts-original.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger pull is crisp and the slide has light play to the frame. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with one 7-round risdon magazine.
Our Assessment: The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985, through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as a reliable handgun with plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. This is a fairly early Colt Model 1911 Government Model made in 1915. The pistol has been equipped with a nice set of vintage sights. The King’s “U”-notch adjustable rear sight neatly cradles the brass bead blade front sight, making for a clean sight picture. The pistol shows signs of treatment with cold blue and some parts have been replaced, but the mechanics are strong and this should make for a fun shooter. All of the old 1911 Colts are collectable, and we are sure this isn’t going to be an exception. Please see our pictures and good luck in your bidding!
