Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “COLT ANACONDA / .44 MAGNUM.” The right side of the barrel is marked “DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER / COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” The crane and crane cut are both marked “MM72073.” The Colt “Ramant Colt” logo is located on the left side of the frame.
Barrel Length: 4 Inches, Full Lug with Ventilated Rib
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an orange-insert ramped blade pinned into the ventilated rib. The rear sight is a fully adjustable square-notch target sight mounted to the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are factory black rubber combat stocks with finger grooves and inset gold Colt medallions. The checkering remains crisp and free of wear or damage. Overall, the grips rate in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion. There is light fouling in the barrel. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains approximately 98% of its original stainless finish. There is a faint turn line on the cylinder and only minimal handling wear consistent with careful storage. The surfaces are smooth and reflective, and the markings are sharp. Screw heads are clean and unmarred. This is a superbly preserved example of Colt’s original .44 Magnum production.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly in both single and double action. Lockup is tight, timing is proper, and cylinder rotation is smooth. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a factory blue hard case with foam insert, Colt Custom Shop paperwork, and manual. The label does not match the revolver.

When Colt introduced the Anaconda in 1990, it was the company’s bold answer to Smith & Wesson’s Model 29 and Ruger’s Redhawk—massive, powerful, and unmistakably Colt. Built on the oversized “MM” frame, the Anaconda was the last of the legendary “Snake Guns,” combining the refined trigger and polish of the Python with the brute strength of a .44 Magnum hunting revolver. As Supica & Nahas note in The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson and confirmed by Colt’s own archives, 1990s Anacondas were hand-fitted in Hartford with mirror-finished stainless steel and heavy, vent-rib barrels reminiscent of the Python’s graceful profile.
The .44 Magnum cartridge itself—born from the .44 Special in the mid-1950s and popularized by Elmer Keith—was America’s premier big-bore handgun round for hunters and outdoorsmen. Firing 240-grain bullets at over 1,300 fps, it could drop deer, boar, or bear with authority. The Anaconda’s full-lug barrel and ventilated rib not only balanced that recoil but lent it a sleek, purposeful silhouette—a revolver as at home on the Alaskan trail as it was in the hands of a collector admiring Colt’s polish under the gunroom light.
