Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “COLT MK IV/SERIES ‘70 / GOVERNMENT MODEL / .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER” and an adjacent Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the trigger guard is marked with a triangle that has “VP” inside of it and “N”. The right side of the slide is marked “COLT’S GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” and features the serial number “CV38450”. The right side of the trigger guard is marked with a poorly stamped “M”. The TOP of the barrel is marked “- COLT .45 AUTO- / MK. IV/SERIES ‘70”. The grips feature a medallion with “COLT” and the Rampant Colt logo colored silver on a gold colored background.

Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a pinned serrated blade. The rear sight is a dovetailed square.

Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The grips are two-piece smooth wood. The bottom edge on the two grips have been discolored and there are a few scattered handling marks. Notably the right side has lost some finish around the medallion and screw holes.  There are no chips or cracks. Overall the grips are in Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Stainless Steel Frame, Nickel Slide, Blue Hammer, Parkerized Mainspring and Beavertail Safety

Finish Originality: Original to the parts manufacture

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: The pistol retains about 97% of its finish. There are some light handling and storage marks to the flats of the slide. The replacement mainspring, grip safety and beavertail all have considerable finish loss from previous use and handling. The markings are clear. The screwheads have some minor toolmarks but remain usable. Overall the pistol is in Fine Condition as built.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide to frame fit is snug. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, it may need a thorough cleaning to meet your maintenance standards.

Box Paperwork and Accessories: The pistol comes with a magazine. The magazine has 5 holes on each side and a slot on the right side. The bottom of the magazine is marked with the Rampant Colt logo and “COLT / 45 AUTO / 8-RD”, “C” AND “S”. The magazine has some operational wear but remains in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This Colt 1911, MKIV/Series ‘70, Government Model is a .45 ACP Semi-Automatic pistol. It has a sleek finish with an eye catching slide and a matching durable frame. The military parts added give it the proper feel in the hand. The pistol is as well suited for shooting targets at the range as it is for home defense. Goodluck on your bid.
