Overall Condition:
This revolver retains approximately 98% of its original finish. There is a turnline on the cylinder. There are only faint handling marks from careful storage. The cylinder engraving remains crisp and the silver plating shows only a light, natural patina. The screws and edges are sharp, with deep blue luster present throughout.
Mechanics:
The action functions correctly with crisp hammer engagement, tight lock-up, and positive indexing. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Included is the original fitted walnut presentation case lined in burgundy velvet, containing the revolver, a Colt Sesquicentennial commemorative medallion dated 1814–1964, a twelve-cartridge display block, a cleaning rod, and a copy of The Arms Collection of Colonel Colt by R.L. Wilson. The case lid features dual leather straps to secure the book.
Production Notes:
This revolver is one of 5,000 produced to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Samuel Colt’s birth. The “SC” suffix in the serial number stands for “Sam Colt.” All revolvers were serialized from 1SC through 5000SC, each supplied with a matching presentation case and commemorative medal.
Our Assessment:
The 1964 Colt Sesquicentennial Single Action Army was crafted to celebrate a century and a half since Samuel Colt’s birth, marking one of the most historically important commemorative guns ever issued by the company. Built on the legendary Peacemaker platform and chambered in .45 Colt, it features elegant engraving, a silver-plated cylinder, and a deluxe presentation case that highlights Colt’s commitment to artistry and tradition.
As a product of the mid-20th-century Colt Custom Shop, this model bridged the company’s golden-era craftsmanship with its modern commemorative era. The revolver stands as a fitting tribute to the man whose ingenuity revolutionized firearms manufacturing and forever changed the course of American arms history. Complete and exceptionally preserved, this example would anchor any serious Colt collection.
