Our Assessment: Colt officially regards the 2nd Generation production of their classic black powder pistols as original Colts. This pistol was produced by Colt’s Manufacturing, Co., not under license by the Colt Black Powder Arms Co. During early production Colt imported rough castings of parts from Italy and fitted the guns in the Colt Factory in West Hartford, CT. From 1978 until production ceased in 1982, the parts were produced by Lou Imperato and Iver Johnson Arms in Middlesex, NJ. This 1860 Army is one of 500 made as a Limited Edition with a presentation case, accessories and a gold plated Colt belt buckle. This example is in Excellent condition, appearing to have spent more time in its case than out. The presentation case’s cardboard sleeve has done a good job preserving the case, making for an excellent addition to a Colt or percussion revolver collection. As time goes on, fewer and fewer Authentic Colt Revolver in Excellent condition will exist, so don’t pass up the opportunity to own a Colt 1860 Army as it would have looked new in the 19th century. Please see our photos and good luck!
