Our Assessment: The Uberti Cimarron 1885 Highwall Sharps chambered in .40-65 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) with a 30-inch barrel is a modern reproduction of a classic American single-shot rifle. This particular model was manufactured by Uberti, an Italian company renowned for its historically accurate reproductions, and imported by Cimarron Firearms, a company that markets high-quality replicas of Old West firearms. The “Highwall” designation refers to the taller receiver sides, which provide greater strength and rigidity, making it well-suited for powerful cartridges and long-range shooting. This design was particularly favored by buffalo hunters, target shooters, and those who required a reliable and accurate firearm for long-distance precision. Chambered in .40-65 WCF, the Uberti Cimarron 1885 Highwall offers a balance between power and shootability. The .40-65 WCF cartridge was originally developed for Winchester’s lever-action rifles but found popularity in single-shot rifles for target shooting and hunting. It is known for its moderate recoil and excellent accuracy at distances of up to 1,000 yards, making it a favorite among black powder cartridge rifle (BPCR) enthusiasts and long-range competitors. The 30-inch barrel on this model is octagonal, a design that harks back to the original rifles of the period. The longer barrel length aids in stabilizing the bullet’s flight, providing greater accuracy at extended ranges. It also allows for a longer sight radius, which is beneficial for precise aiming, especially with iron sights. The rifle’s construction features a case-hardened receiver, which not only adds to the historical authenticity but also enhances the rifle’s durability. The vivid, swirling colors of the case hardening are a hallmark of quality in traditional firearms and give the rifle a distinctive and attractive appearance. In summary, the Uberti Cimarron 1885 Highwall Sharps in .40-65 WCF with a 30-inch barrel is a high-quality reproduction of a classic American rifle. It combines historical authenticity with modern manufacturing precision, making it an excellent choice for those interested in traditional firearms, long-range shooting, or black powder cartridge competitions. Its blend of power, accuracy, and aesthetic appeal makes it a standout among single-shot rifles. Please see our high quality photos via the link and best of luck with your bidding!!!-R.L.
