Markings: The import mark on the left side of the receiver reads “SKS M. 7.62X39MM C8A, VA, BH VA MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO”. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number “94 56065”. The top of the bolt is marked “56065”. The rear sight is marked “1-10” and “3” for the battle position.

Barrel Length: Approximately 17” threaded.

Sights / Optics:  The front sight is an adjustable hooded post. The rear sight is a “U” notched sliding escalator marked from “1-10” and “3” at the base.  This rifle comes with a scope railed rear receiver piece for scope/optic options.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a wooden SKS stock with raised comb, semi-pistol grip, finger grooves, sling ring in the bottom of the buttstock, and serrated buttplate.  The LOP measures 14.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition with only a few scratches and compression marks.  This is an SKS-M which is configured to accept standard AK47 magazines.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.  There is some dust in the bore.

Overall Condition:  This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some light scratches and shallow nicks on top of the receiver.  The cleaning rod retainer has been shaved. The screw heads are sharp and pins are unmarred. The markings are crisp. There is some corrosion in the front of the trigger guard.  Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent Condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its factory box and oiler.

Our Assessment: The Norinco SKS-M is a variant of the classic SKS rifle manufactured by the Chinese state-owned company Norinco. The “M” in the name stands for “modified,” indicating some design changes compared to the original SKS.

One of the notable differences of the SKS-M is its detachable magazine. Unlike the traditional SKS, which is equipped with an internal fixed 10-round magazine, the SKS-M features compatibility with standard AK47 Magazines.  This makes reloading faster and more convenient, especially in a semi-automatic platform.
