Markings: The tang is marked “DLXQ011”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “MADE FOR CHERRY’S GREENSBORO N.C. -BY DAVIDE PEDERSOLI OF ITALY DLXQ011 DP PEDERSOLI CAL. 45-70 / MADE IN ITALY CAT. 10650” The receiver is stamped with several proofs including the date code. The tang sight is marked with “DP”.
Barrel Length: 34” heavy octagon barrel. The rifle weighs 13 lbs 5 oz.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a globe front sight currently there is no insert installed. The rear sight is a flip-up ladder marked from 2-8 with a semi-buckhorn small notch sight when the ladder is folded down. Both front and rear sights are dovetailed into the barrel. This rifle also includes a tang mounted, windage adjustable, mid range staff, Vernier style micrometer rear sight with small eye disc.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two piece smooth walnut. The buttstock is a smooth straight hand with straight comb and has a case colored engraved butt plate and patch box. The handguard is a smooth, tapered forend with a Hartford tip. The LOP measures 14″ from the front trigger to the back of the butt plate. The wood shows scattered surface level lines and a few small compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The tip shows some surface level fine lines. Overall the furniture set is in Very Good+-Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever, butt plate, patch box and hammer are color case hardened.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. If this rifle has been fired outside of factory testing it was very little. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrel shows a few very minor nicks and some discoloration from storage. The barrel also shows several very small surface rust freckling spots the most notable is just behind the rear sight on the right side. The lower tang has a small rub mark from the lever. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. The lower tang has a small patch of rust freckling just in front of the triggers. Overall this rifle is in Very Good+-Excellent condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Pedersoli 1874 Sharps Deluxe Quigley-style rifle was made in 2001 for Cherry’s of Greensboro. Unlike the Quigley rifle from the movie this rifle is set up for factory 45-70 Government cartridges making ammunition easier to obtain. The rifle retains the iconic 34″ heavy octagon barrel, double set triggers, a globe front sight and a tang-mounted, windage-adjustable Vernier sight with a mid-range staff just like the original, a setup perfect for precision long-range shooting.
The rifle wears a two-piece smooth walnut furniture set, consisting of a straight-hand butt stock with straight comb and a smooth tapered forend with a Hartford tip. The case-colored, engraved butt plate and patch box add period-correct elegance, with gold inlay animal engravings featuring a bear on one side of the receiver, a moose on the other, and a bear on the patch box. Weighing 13 lbs 5 oz, this is a substantial and visually striking Sharps rifle that combines Quigley-style presence with deluxe engraving and serious shooting capability.
