Our Assessment:
The Yugoslavian M72 RPK is the heavy-barreled squad automatic weapon variant of the AKM, designed to provide sustained firepower with its reinforced receiver, bulged trunnion, and extended 21.5” barrel. While the original military RPKs often featured bipods and clubfoot stocks, many kit builds like this one retain a more straightforward fixed stock configuration, combining the durability of the RPK platform with simplicity.
Century International Arms and D.C. Industries assembled these rifles from surplus Yugo M72 kits on newly manufactured U.S. receivers, with compliance parts like the TAPCO G2 trigger group. The result is a rugged and reliable semi-automatic rifle that retains the distinctive character of the original M72 RPK while remaining civilian-legal.
Collectors will appreciate the Yugo-specific details—such as the bulged trunnion, windage-adjustable rear sight, and heavy RPK barrel profile—while shooters will enjoy the durability and controllability this platform offers with the 7.62x39mm cartridge. This rifle stands as both a piece of Cold War history and a practical range performer, making it a solid choice for enthusiasts and collectors alike. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid.
