Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “C.SHARPS ARMS CO. INC. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA , U.S.A.”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “S1471”. The top of the barrel is marked “Old Reliable” in a rectangle, “C.SHARPS ARMS CO. INC. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA , U.S.A.”, and “CAL.45 2 1/10”. The barrel lug is marked “12 A / 1471”. The right side of the base of the rear sight is marked “C.SHARPS ARMS CO. INC.”.
Barrel Length: 30” Octagonal
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe sight with an interchangeable sight leaf (no additional leafs included). There is no provision for a rear sight. The tang sight is a fully adjustable peep aperture sight. The left side of the elevator graduates from 0 to 350 yards in 10 yard increments.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with a schnabel forearm, pistol grip, straight comb with cheek piece, and a checkered steel buttplate. There are a few light draglines on either side of the buttstock. There is a little cluster of faint marks on the bottom of the forend near the schnabel tip. There are no chips and cracks. The LOP measures 13 7/8” from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the steel buttplate, which shows little to no wear. The stocks rate in about Fine-Plus overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some stubborn fouling in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minor handling marks but no major imperfections. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Sharps rifles are a series of large-bore, single-shot, falling-block, breech-loading rifles, beginning with a design by Christian Sharps in 1848, and ceasing production in 1881. They were renowned for long-range accuracy. This is a New Model 1875 Sporting Rifle manufactured 1996-1998 and chambered for 45 2 1/10 Sharps.
