Our Assessment: The Bulgarian SLR-100H is a semi-automatic AK-pattern rifle built from Arsenal of Bulgaria components and imported by Intrac during the early 2000s, a period noted for high-quality Eastern Bloc parts kits adapted for the U.S. market. The SLR-100 series reflects Arsenal’s legacy as one of the primary military producers of Kalashnikov rifles, retaining correct AKM-pattern features and geometry rather than commercial reinterpretations. Chambered in 7.62x39mm, the rifle follows the classic long-stroke gas piston system that defined Soviet and Bulgarian service rifles throughout the Cold War. This configuration represents a civilian adaptation of a true military lineage rather than a modernized or hybrid design.
This example is configured with a 16.25 inch threaded barrel with thread protector, standard AK iron sights, and a three-piece wood stock set with metal buttplate and trap door. The rifle retains approximately 97 percent of its original matte gray metal finish, with light handling wear, scratches, small areas of thinning, and operational wear visible. The bore is bright with sharp rifling in most areas, showing light erosion, pitting, and some chipping toward the muzzle, rating 6 out of 10, while the wood furniture shows moderate wear with compression marks, cracks at the buttplate, and chips along the upper tang, overall rating Good. The action functions correctly and the rifle includes one 20-round Pmag. Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids! -N.P
